The EMMA system is able to nest several levels into the mother domain. In the case of Madrid area, the mother domain is fixed to 80 x 100 km and the nested metropolitan domain is fixed to 10 x 12 km. mother domain is having 10 km grid spatial resolution and nested domain is centered in the Madrid Metropolitan Area with 1 km grid spatial domain. The nesting capabilities are implemented by taking into account the information provided by the mother domain with a time scale depending of the size of the nested domain. The boundary conditions are interpolated along the area. The nesting capabilities are able to produce very detailed information in areas which detail is necessary such as metropolitan areas or other other of special interest. This high spatial resolution is obtained by reducing considerably the computing requeriments because of the nesting approach.
